Assistance with Dependent Children Support

At Multiway Immigrations, we understand the importance of family reunification, and our Dependent Children Support Service is designed to help Canadian citizens and permanent residents sponsor their children to come to Canada and become permanent residents. Our team of experienced immigration consultants assists clients in preparing all the necessary documentation required for the application, including the sponsorship undertaking, application form, and supporting documents.
Who are dependent children?
Children must fit the definition of a dependent child to qualify for sponsorship. A child is regarded as a dependent if they are under 22 years old, unmarried, or in a common-law relationship, regardless of whether they are the biological or adopted child of a Canadian citizen or permanent resident. If a child over 22 has a physical or mental impairment that makes it impossible for them to support themselves, they will be regarded as dependent.
Requirements

Parents must meet eligibility requirements in order for the child to be granted permanent residence. Parents wishing to sponsor their child must:

  • Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident living in Canada
  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Not be in prison, charged with a serious offense, or bankrupt

Additionally, parents will need to present documentation of their relationship to the child, such as a birth or adoption certificate. Before the adoption is legally finalized, parents who are nearing the end of the adoption process may sponsor the child. The sponsored person must be the biological child of the sponsor, the sponsor’s spouse, or the sponsor’s adopted child, in addition to fitting the definition of a dependent child.

The first step towards sponsoring your dependent children is determining your program eligibility. Our team of experienced consultants will carefully examine your circumstances, including your residency status and your relationship with your dependent child, to assess your eligibility for sponsoring them.
